Jacqueline Desaulniers Kinzer, age 73, of Rome, GA, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 24, 2015, in a local hospital.

Jacqueline Desaulniers Kinzer was born February 4, 1942 in Woonsocket, RI to the late Antonie Thomas Desaulniers and Constance Trinque Desaulniers. The family moved south to Macon, GA in 1946 and to Talladega, AL in 1949. Jackie graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and earned a BA degree from Huntingdon College, and pursued further studies at the University of Alabama as well as Emory and Samford Universities.

Jacqueline Desaulniers Kinzer, age 73, of Rome, GA, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 24, 2015, in a local hospital.

Jacqueline Desaulniers Kinzer was born February 4, 1942 in Woonsocket, RI to the late Antonie Thomas Desaulniers and Constance Trinque Desaulniers. The family moved south to Macon, GA in 1946 and to Talladega, AL in 1949. Jackie graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and earned a BA degree from Huntingdon College, and pursued further studies at the University of Alabama as well as Emory and Samford Universities.

Jackie worked in various libraries, including the old Rome Carnegie Library, from the age of 14 until final retirement from the Reference Department at Sara Hightower Regional Library in 2004, after which she served as the Manager of the Rome-Floyd Welcome Center until 2011. Through the years Jackie was involved with the Boards of the Marshall Forest, Heritage Holidays, Friends of the Library, and was a member of the Mount Berry Garden Club, Rome Music Lovers, American Association of University Women, Georgia Library Association, NW Georgia Genealogical Society, Society of Georgia Archivists, Historic High Country Travel Association, and the Morgan Owners Group South. Jackie was a Communicant at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rome, where she helped with the caring ministry and the Hilltoppers Senior Group.

She is survived by her husband, Dwight Kinzer, to whom she was married June 7, 1969; a daughter, Pamela Kinzer Rogers (Bob), a granddaughter, Kinzer Trettel; a brother, A.T. Desaulniers (Patsy) and cousins.

The funeral mass was held Friday, March 27, 2015, at 12 noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Patrick Kingery and Deacon Stuart Neslin officiating. Interment was in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family received friends at a reception in the Parish Hall of St. Mary's Church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL, or Berry College, in Rome. Daniel's Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
