Mr. Frank Jerome McCann, 89, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully Friday, June 16, 2017, at the home of his son, in Atlanta.

Mr. McCann was born September 3, 1927 in Providence, Rhode Island, son of the late Frank Leo and Mary Mae McCann. Mr. McCann is survived by two daughters and two sons: Maryann Abbajay, London, UK; Frank Leo McCann, Cartersville; Maureen Honea, Rome; and Gerard McCann, Atlanta. Mr. Frank Jerome McCann, 89, of Rome, GA, passed away peacefully Friday, June 16, 2017, at the home of his son, in Atlanta.

Mr. McCann was born September 3, 1927 in Providence, Rhode Island, son of the late Frank Leo and Mary Mae McCann. Mr. McCann is survived by two daughters and two sons: Maryann Abbajay, London, UK; Frank Leo McCann, Cartersville; Maureen Honea, Rome; and Gerard McCann, Atlanta. Additionally, Mr. McCann is survived by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Shevlin McCann; daughter, Kathleen McCann Baesel; and sisters, Anna Mae and Jane.

He graduated high school from LaSalle Academy in Providence RI. Shortly after, he joined the United States Coast Guard. He served three years, partially during World War II, stationed on islands in the Pacific. After the war, he attended Manhattan College, obtaining a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a licensed PE and, in 1952, began working at General Electric in Schenectady, NY. He married his wife on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1953. In 1968, he was transferred to Rome, GA to work in the Medium Transformer Division of GE in the marketing department as manager of product planning.

Mr. McCann was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rome. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 4410. Prior to ongoing health issues, Mr. McCann enjoyed golf, playing cards, and was a voracious reader.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Daniel's Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Rafael Carballo officiating, assisted by Deacon Stuart Neslin. Interment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery, 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, Ga. 30114.
